My Daughter's Very First Jr High "BIG GIRL" Dance....

My rugrat with her friends.....getting ready to go to their first dance.... I hope these aren't the moves they are going to try to use to impress the boys...

Awwwwwwwwwwww...... so cute and all grown up! sniff.. sniff..

One of my rugrat's Best friends.... They all gathered at her house to get ready.......

Another one of her best friends..... Awwwwww..... doesn't she look B-E-A-utiful?!?

Yes, she can walk in those heels..woooo, you go girl! ... I loved her heels, if they were in my size I would have asked to borrow them......

My rugrat getting ready to put her dress on......

Wowza..... make up and a dress..... of course she had to grab a kitty to hold in the photo.... my little animal lover..

The mom's in the mix of it all....... helping with make up and hair.....

Ahhhhh the yummy food my friend prepared for the girls...(yes it is all about the food STILL)...... she's such a good momma.....

A group of our kids getting ready to go line up for the dance.. wishing their mothers would stop taking pictures....

I was excited to get this photo.... My rugrat and her little handsome friend who just happens to be one of my best friends sons.......
Yes, we do believe in arranged marriages..... ....well, we like to pretend that we have some control...the holidays would be so fun for us.....and when it comes to who they marry, it is soooooo all about us..... LOL.....

My pretty friend! (who also happens to be the mother of my handsome future son-in-law) See I'm not the only crazy mom with a camera..... there were several of us.....
The Paparazzi has nothing on us..

She says "Cheese" But in her head she says "MOM PLEASSSSEEEE!!!! Put down the camera and go home already!"

"Me.....me........pick me!!!"..... Seriously, what is she doing? No clue.... She is my daughter, that's all that really needs to be said.... no more questions.....just an ......"ahhhhhhhh, it's all making sense now" moment.......

She looks as though she is starting to get a bit concerned....... Maybe she sees another girl wearing the same dress as her! This would be cause for going home and changing...... thank goodness that wasn't the case.......

Can you say CHEESE again for momma sweetie? (Rugrat: "YES, MOM, I know you still have the camera....please LEAVE!" ) I'm a mind reader.... i just don't listen very well.....

It's like going to a Hollywood "A list" party.......She is checking to make sure her name is on the list....
*** I was happy to see it wasn't a Real Housewives of Atlanta moment, like the one when NeNe was left off the guest list at Sheree's party......
Yes, Real Housewives...IS..another addiction of mine....sorry

This is the sweetest lady and she just happens to be a grandma who has experience with how to keep these little ones in line.... they were crowding up and she got them all straightened out. You can see the cute little boy in the brown and white shirt looking up at her and pointing....., I'm sure he is making sure it is ok for him to go next.....or is he letting her know that somebody cut in front of him???....

So I'm in spying with my camera. Some friends and myself were calling ourselves the paparazzi because we were hiding behind things to sneak photos..... yes, I know this is invading her privacy.....she is 11 she has no privacy when it involves boys.... I know....Next year she'll have me on Dr. Phil........ as long as it's not Jerry Springer I think I'll be okay...

This was my private detective shot at the corner of the stage..... I almost got busted...

Yep...... she sees me.... it was a matter of time......busted........ So I left.... I guess I do want to give her some privacy.... sighhhhhh
****I wasn't going to mention that when I left I got in the car and cried all the way home.... YES....... "snot bubble out the nose" type of cry.....(You all know what I'm talking about... the UGLY cry).....then I laugh at myself because SERIOUSLY is this a reason to cry.???.... Your daughter is enjoying herself at a dance.....a dance she was soooooooo excited that she is able to attend....... a dance she has been planning for since last year....... and then you say (out loud alone in the car.....sadly I talk to myself a lot)......
"Yes, Stephanie, you do have the right to cry.....your baby is growing up....soon she will be in high school, then college, then married and then have granchildren......."
Seriously?!? One school dance and I have her graduated, married and off spittin' out babies.......

Actually I remember my first Junior High Dance......but when I was 11 years old, I was much older than she is........ Yes, that does make sense........in my mommy mind.......it makes perfect sense.....
I'll seek therapy soon.....

Ciao Bellas~

  3. Your daughter is beautiful and what a good sport letting you take all those pictures! :)

I probably would have done the same... ask them to pose for endless pics, stalk when I should have left already, then cry all the way home!

  4. Isn't it crazy that we can remember those days like it was yesterday? Funny thing is they listen to a lot of the same songs we did!

  5. I absolutely hate seeing her grow up so quickly. She is so beautiful and yes I am a proud Grandmother! It brings back memories of you when you were younger.

  7. Sure brings back memories of my jr high dances. I can remember dancing to music by Devo and the boys sat on one side of the gym while the girls were on the other. It wasnt' till just about the end of the dance that we started to venture towards the middle and dance. I remember begging my mom to let me go and she put me in this awful Gunnie Sak dress. Remember those?! Not cool at all. I remember it like yesterday!

Katie Looked sooo beautiful! Your right - I have my Hannah all grown up and spittn out babies too everytime I think about her getting older. Thanks for sharing, Regina :)

  8. Doesn't it though.?? Seems crazy when our kids start growing up and doing things that we sooooo clearly remember doing when we were their ages.

    sniff....sniff...

What's really going to make my head spin around a few times is when my grandchildren are doing things I remember doing..

But won't we be blessed to be around to see that?!?
